Boarding and final disembarkation were very efficient. The ports of call on this cruise were outstanding and it was lovely to see the natural beauty of the British Isles. Our cabin on deck 5 was very quiet and kept immaculate by the hard working chamber maid. Everything worked and hot water was plentiful. We enjoyed the food and dinner service (table 47) was first class, although tea and coffee service at breakfast was slow. The lounges and bars were comfortable and the staff generally were friendly. The evening entertainment outclassed anything we had experienced before(P&O,QE2,Fred Olsen,Thomson); Richard Sykes, the Cruise Director was excellent.
However disembarkation via tender at Stornaway was chaotic and an accident waiting to happen(with passengers queuing hours before the reported 2pm disembarkation time)-surely phased disembarkation as on other boats could have been organised.Senior Officers were very rarely seen around the boat and communication with passengers was zero, with no public announcements. We too witnessed senior staff reprimanding junior staff in public which is unsatisfactory.
The range of trips were excellent, but as usual expensive. We went on 2 and enjoyed them, but generally did our own thing.
Not withstanding some of the above we enjoyed the cruise. We have cruised with many cruise lines and none have ever been perfect. Considering what we paid it was good value for money.
