Hello
We live in the Hardangerfjord. Today (sunday 1. juni 2008) we visit our friends with our 24 feet daycruiser. The weather was unflawed, no wind and the fjord was shining like a mirror. We landed with the boat at 6 pm at Torsnes (pos 60 degree 13'32" N - 6 degree 11'38" E). At 7 pm your cruiseship Marco Polo passed Torsnes, on the other side of the fjord, heading south vest with a speed of 20 knots. At this point the fjord is about 3km from side to side. The ship generates very big waves, about 2,5 meters. Our daycruiser mored at the side of the fjord was lifted over the dock and the bow of the boat was crashed. I estimate the damage on our boat will cost between 2 to 3 thousand pounds. Can somebody please set me in conection with the responsible for these damage on our boat, and please tell the responible offisers of the boat to slow down when they cruise the narrow fjords of Norway.

you could try writing direct but you may need legal advice to get anywhere but 20 knots does create a problem in such a narrow inlet.

I would just like to say how awfull this has been for you and i hope that you have contacted the cruise line concerned. You live in a very beautiful area and must be plagued by cruise ships. Thank you for sharing the fiord with us.
